Warehousing & Storage

At TOTAL Transportation, we have developed a storage, warehouse and distribution service with lots of added value. All items that enter and leave the warehouse are bar code labeled and scanned into a designated position. Items are then entered into our robust inventory control system for ease of locating.  As an added feature, for customers who require it, we offer a secured access to your inventory so you can dial in at your convenience and see your inventory within our warehouse.

Tracking

Each item is tracked independently via a bar code tag. TOTAL uses a “Lot One” tracking method.
Lot One tracking is done at the shipping item level: skid, crate, carton, etc.
If TOTAL is shipping out the item as a complete skid, then the skid is tagged.
If TOTAL is shipping out the item one carton at a time, then each carton would be tagged.

Each item can have several different tracking details assigned:

  • Part Number (a.k.a. Model Number)
  • Serial Number
  • Control Number
  • Lot Number
  • Batch Number
  • Material Number
  • PO Number
  • Reference Number
  • Expiration Date
  • Manufacturer, Manufacturing Plant, Date, and Time

In addition to the above fields, the system will track:

  • Date In, Date Out
  • Order number In, Order number Out
  • Building
  • Last Inventory Date and Time (i.e. Last time the product was scanned)
  • Complete history of inventory data changes
  • Complete history of order assignments (in and out)

Web Access

TOTAL also offers an Interactive Web Site where you can access the warehouse inventory in real-time.

This web site offers:

  • inventory summary and detail listings
  • view shipping and receiving orders
  • view activity reports
  • create shipping and receiving orders
  • shopping cart to create a shipping order
  • and more…

Piece Catalogue

As part of the storage and dispatch systems, TOTALl maintains a product catalogue for each customer.  This catalogue is based on the customer’s Part Numbers (or a made up skid size).  The catalogue is used for all shipping and receiving orders.

The catalogue contains:
